Asserts the conservative Republican commentator in Michigan, after state legislators yesterday voted to install (and the governor signed) a right to work law in the Great Lakes State: "If you are a resident of Michigan or any other state and are or have
been a member of a union, you know what it feels like to be threatened
by union goons. They openly tell you when you can work, and when
you cannot, and who you have to support for political office and who
you should not. This is not union protection of wages, this is union
thuggish behavior, used to harass, threaten and intimidate you! To add insult to injury all of this is done courtesy of union dues paid by workers!"
Mr. Fobbs continues his commentary about right to work laws: "For many of the workers on the lines and on the factory floors in the
other 23 states that have Right to Work laws, union intimidation days
are over. Organized labor has organized itself right out of legitimacy.
Across the nation, its public unions are bankrupting state and local
governments, where dwindling services are paying for skyrocketing labor
and benefit packages. Workers across the country are seeing that more and more companies
are cutting back, laying off and streamlining their workforce, because
unions demand more, want to work less. These same unions threaten
workers who gripe about misuse and abuse of union dues being used for
political and personal purposes that are not questioned. So along comes the Republicans of Michigan’s legislature who decided
that Obama’s presidential win did not mean that American freedom of
choice was lost. As Governor Snyder stated upon signing the
legislation, the bill is about a person’s right to freedom of choice.
Is this not what America is all about?"
