Asserts the moderate-liberal U.S. Congressman from Georgia. From WALB.com: "With the nation being pushed to the brink as the fiscal cliff deadline looms, Congressman Sanford Bishop is criticizing Republicans for what he calls a lack of willingness to compromise. 'Quite frankly I'm upset, disappointed and downright disgusted. I feel like Speaker Boehner and the Republican [C]ongress wasted our precious days in the past few weeks with in-fighting and then out of frustration the speaker sent us home because they could not agree to a compromise for the good of the country,' said Congressman Bishop."
More: "But Bishop says something needs to be done and quickly to avoid deep spending cuts and higher taxes for America's most vulnerable citizens. 'We need to reach a sensible compromise. We need to restore hope in American people and confidence that [C]ongress can take care of the people's business,' said Congressman Bishop. 'I certainly hope that cooler heads will prevail and a census and compromised will be reached. I'm hopeful that will happen,' he continued."
