Ghana's Nate Silver predicts a victory for center-right candidate Nana Akufo-Addo. If so, it will mark the first time in Ghanaian history that voters kick a sitting president to the curb. From The Statesman (Ghana): "Elections results worldwide show that on average incumbent presidents lose between 1% and 3% of votes. This implies that [center-left ruling party] NDC might statistically find it difficult to significantly increase their 2008 election results of 47.76% consistent with the modeling results. If [center-right party] NPP does not win the presidential election in first round then second round is possible but there is no way NDC can statistically win in the first round,' Prof. [Adu] Bona insists in a release issued after his statistical analysis.
According to the Professor of Statistics, statistical analysis of voting patterns in Ghana 'puts NPP ahead of 2012 presidential elections with about 50.1% of the total votes with NDC trailing behind with about 45.73% of the votes.'"
