Asserted the moderate-conservative Republican, in his speech yesterday at the Conservative Political Action Conference. From Red Alert Politics (see video of his speech here): "'They [college students] are trying to pursue one of the most
inherently conservative values in this society....preparing yourself so you
can rise without depending on anybody to take care of you,' Davis said. But while young people are attending college to better their lives,
Davis argued that graduating college with a mountain of debt only
cripples these college graduates. 'Four of five of those kids can’t finance college without taking out
significant loans that will burden them for much of their work life,' he
argued."
More about the former U.S. Congressman's comments: "He asked the conservatives in the room to renew their focus on the student debt problem, as the national student loan debt has already surpassed $1 trillion with no end in sight. 'How often do they hear us talking about the fact that the
conservative and responsible act of getting a college education is
becoming harder?' he asked the audience."
